Paolo Villoresi is the Editor in Chief and Publisher of The Magazine of La Cucina Italiana, which he launched in the United States in 1996. In 2002, he launched a second magazine, Italian Cooking & Living, which is geared towards the younger reader who is eager to discover Italy. Villoresi’s unique multimedia system encompasses the two magazines, a variety of clubs (including cheese, wine and olive oil), three web sites, a TV show and the Italian Culinary Center. Like every good Tuscan, he has a passion for olive oil. He is the founder and president of the Italian Olive Oil Center, where he and his team press olives with a unique olive oil mill for the edification of students taking his monthly olive oil course. He has written several books, including “Olice,” sponsored by Unicef, a history of olive oil for children; “Signature Pasta,” a history of pasta with recipes and wine pairings; “My Holiday Table,” a collection of recipes and anecdotes about an Italian childhood; and most recently, “Cooking with Olive Oil,” an extensive history of the ingredient along with recipes. Villoresi was born in Florence, Italy where he studied political science. He comes from an old Florentine family of art-lovers who taught him to look upon the traditions of Italian cuisine as an integral part of Italian culture. He is the father of four and lives in New York City with his wife and 12-year old daughter.
